IFN-γ does not affect the TMEV-specific IgM or IgM response in TMEV-infected H-2q mice. (A) ELISA for serum IgM antibodies (11 to 16 days after infection) directed against purified TMEV antigens in IFN-γ−/− H-2q, IFN-γ+/+ H-2q, and IFN-γ+/− H-2q mice. Negative controls were from mice not infected with TMEV. IFN-γ−/−, IFN-γ+/−, and IFN-γ+/+ mice developed normal humoral antibody responses to the virus antigens. IFN-γ−/− H-2q mice had IgM responses at 11 to 16 days similar to those of the other experimental groups, even though these mice had profound neurologic deficits and frequent deaths at these times after infection. (B) Virus-specific IgG ELISA at 11 to 16 days postinfection. This assay also showed no differences between groups. Error bars indicate standard error of the mean.
