HSV-1 clearance from dorsal root ganglia and spinal cord. B6 mice were inoculated i.vag. with HSV-1. Dorsal root ganglia and spinal cords were harvested on the indicated days for quantification of virus as described in Materials and Methods. The decrease in the amount of infectious virus present over the course of the experiment was significant in both dorsal root ganglia (P = 0.0148 from day 6 to day 8 and P = 0.0070 from day 6 to day 10) and spinal cord (P = 0.0312 from day 6 to day 8 and P = 0.0148 from day 6 to day 10).
