129Xe polarizer with modifications needed for real-time in vivo delivery of HP 129Xe. The key modification was to remove the cryogenic accumulation stage of a conventional polarizer and to introduce an HP-gas-compatible Teflon regulator to reduce the pressure to physiologic levels to permit direct delivery of the HP 129Xe mixture to the animal. The inspiration of the 129Xe mixture is controlled by an HP gas-compatible pneumatic Teflon valve.
