Expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS; A), ICAM-1 (B), IL-6 (C), IL-1β (D), TNF-α (E), and SIRT1 (F) in coronary arteries of control rats, rats exposed to cigarette smoke (smoking; see MATERIALS AND METHODS), and rats exposed to cigarette smoke plus treated with Res. Analysis of mRNA expression was performed by real-time quantitative (q)RT-PCR. Hypoxanthine phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) was used for internal normalizations. Data are means ± SE; n = 5 to 6 animals for each group. *P <0.05 vs. untreated; #P <0.05 vs. no Res.
