Rad18p is not required for phosphorylation of chk1p after DNA damage. The indicated strains, in the background of hemagglutinin-tagged chk1p, were irradiated at 100 J/m2, and samples were taken at the indicated times (minutes). Western blot analysis using the 12CA5 antibody was used to detect the forms of hemagglutinin-tagged chk1p. Time 0 = unirradiated. Essentially identical results were obtained with cultures irradiated with 250 Gy ionizing radiation.
