TN-C but not FN expression is specifically associated with cord formation of endothelial cells in vitro. Nonsprouting (a, b) and cord-forming BAECs (c–h) were cultured to confluence (day 1) or postconfluence (days 4 + 8) and immunostained for TN-C (a, c, e, g) or FN (b, d, f, h). TN-C staining was only found in sprouting or cord-forming cells but never in the endothelial monolayer. Bar, 50 μm.
