The mpr1-1 mutant strain accumulates ubiquitinated proteins. The wild-type strain containing RPN11/MPR1 and the mutant strain containing mpr1-1 were grown at 24°C to stationary phase, after which one-half of the culture was shifted for 5 h to 36°C. Proteins were then extracted, electrophoresed, and detected as indicated in MATERIALS AND METHODS.
