Effects of IAA depletion treatment on adventitious root formation, HO activity, and CO content in cucumber explants. Explants treated with water (nondepleted) or with IAA depletion pretreatment (10 μm NPA; IAA depleted) for 2 d were further incubated in water for another 5 d, then root number per explant was recorded. HO activity and CO content were determined after 2 d of water or IAA depletion treatment. Mean and se values were calculated from at least three independent experiments (n=20).
