Application of CO aqueous solution not only dose-dependently blocked the IAA depletion-induced inhibition of adventitious root formation but also enhanced CO content and up-regulated CSDNAJ-1 and CSCDPK1/5 transcripts in auxin-depleted explants. A, Adventitious root number and lengths were quantified after 5 d of treatment. B, CO level was determined following further water or 10% CO aqueous solution treatment during a 6-h period. C, CSDNAJ-1 and CSCDPK1/5 expression was analyzed by semiquantitative RT-PCR. Mean and se values were calculated from at least three independent experiments (n=20).
