Effect of cadherin stimulation on adherens junction formation in myogenic cell lines. C2, L8, and L84 cells were sparsely plated and further incubated for 10 h on gelatin-coated coverslips. The various beads were added to the cells for 6 h in growth medium. The cells were then permeabilized, fixed, and immunostained for β-catenin. Notice the intensive staining of the cell–cell contact sites and the apparent increase in staining after treatment with the cadherin-reactive beads.
