A–C, effects of starvation on hepatic LKB1 activity
(A), acetylation (B), and AMPK phosphorylation (C).
Sprague-Dawley rats were starved for 48 h or starved and then refed standard
chow for 24 h (Fed). Under pentobarbital anesthesia, the livers were
removed and then freeze-clamped for the indicated measurements. After 48 h of
starvation, LKB1 activity and the phosphorylation of AMPK were higher, and
LKB1 acetylation was lower that in the starved-refed rats (*,
p < 0.05 versus fed, n = 6).
