Decreased apical levels of the GTPase Rab11 suggest decreased membrane delivery and/or rearrangement in rib mutants. (A-D) Apical levels of the GTPase Rab11 (red) are severely decreased in rib mutants. WT SG (A) and TR (C) exhibit robust apical levels of the GTPase Rab11 during tube morphogenesis. During these same stages, rib SG (B) and TR (D) exhibit greatly reduced Rab11 levels, correlating with the relative depletion of subapical vesicles observed by TEM of rib mutant SG. See insets for higher magnification images of a portion of SG (arrows in A, B) and DT metamere 4 (arrowheads in C, D). Scale bars are 20 μm.
