Ancestral epitope precursors are defined by their C-terminal position (Fig. 1, 10th amino acid from the left) in the aligned sequences [3]. Similarly, MHC-binding peptides and CTL epitopes are defined by their C-terminal, but also by the MHC that they are predicted to bind to. *: significant decrease over time (Kendall Tau rank correlation test, p<0.01).
