Flagella visualized with NanoOrange staining for P. profundum SS9 and deletion mutants. The ΔflaA (A) and ΔflaC (C) mutants do not produce a filament. The ΔflaB (B) and proton-motor (ΔmotA1) (D) mutants were seen to produce a polar flagellum comparable to that of the parental strain, SS9R (F).
