Degradation of desaturase in P-2 fraction is not blocked by inhibitors of lysosomal enzymes or serine proteases. Experimental conditions were as in Figure 4, except for supplementation with the protease inhibitors. Lanes 4 and 5 represent incubation mixtures containing 240 μM pepstatin; lanes 5 and 7, 400 μM leupeptin; lanes 8 and 9, 420 μM ALLM; and lanes 10 and 11, supplemented with 1 mM PMSF.
