Age was significantly different, between those strangled and not strangled for the abused controls only, t(424) = 2.36, p = .02. Length of relationship was significantly different, χ2(1) = 4.61, p=.03, between those strangled and not strangled for the attempted homicides only.
Ethnicity was significantly different, between those strangled and not strangled for the abused controls, χ2(2) = 15.54, p = .000 Education was significantly different, χ2(1) = 4.90, p = .027, between those strangled and not strangled for completed homicides only.
Relationship status was significantly different, between those strangled and not strangled for the abused controls, χ2(1) = 9.20, p = .002, and completed femicides, χ2(1) = 5.40, p = .02.
