^aStrain DBY7305 was mated to DBY7303 (bim1Δ × bim1Δ) or to DBY6654 (wt × bim1Δ), strain DBY7831 was mated to DBY7835 (bik1Δ × bik1Δ) or to DBY6654 (wt × bik1Δ), and strain DBY7306 was mated to DBY6654 (wt × wt) as described in MATERIAL AND METHODS. After 4 h of mating, cells were washed off the plates and stained with DAPI. At least 100 zygotes were counted in each case, and numbers are shown as percentages.
