The incorporation of BrdU is shown in frames A and B while the expression of ttk is shown in C and D. The dotted squares denote the region that is detailed in the respective inset in which sensory cells are shown in green and BrdU or Ttk in red. BrdU incorporation was completely abolished in secondary precursor cells after specific ectopic expression of Gem (compare A and B) but not in epidermal cells (arrowheads in the inset of B). Note that Ttk expression was considerably reduced after specific ectopic expression of Gem (compare C and D). Arrows in D indicate three-cell sensory organs. Pupae at 19 h APF. Conditional expression of Gem was performed using the Gal4/ Gal80^ts system. Scale bar: 20 µm.
