Glycoform analysis of connective tissues. The percent composition of CSA-like (4GlcAβ1-3GalNAc4Sβ1-), CSB-like (4IdoAα1-3GalNAc4Sβ1-), CSC-like (4GlcAβ1-3GalNAc6Sβ1-) isomers for adult human cartilage and juvenile bovine cartilage, ligament, muscle, tendon and synovium samples. CSA, CSB and CSC standards were used to compare the relative amounts characteristic of each biological sample. Δ(2,2,2) represents the glycoform percentage of an internal Δ-unsaturated tetrasaccharide, Δ(3,3,3) represents the glycoform percentage of an internal Δ-unsaturated hexasaccharide, Δ(4,4,4) represents the glycoform percentage of an internal Δ-unsaturated octasaccharides. A representative tandem mass spectrum of (2,2,2) is shown in supplemental Figure 2.
