Among the neurons with a well-defined rate best modulation frequency (rBMF), cells with a longer first-spike latency (FSL) tended to have a lower rBMF. PSTH types are indicated by the symbols (categories are the same as in Fig. 1A). Histogram of FSLs shown below the axis is a description of the entire population with a measurable FSL (n = 182) not just neurons with rBMFs. Peak histogram value corresponds to a count of 27 neurons.
