From a population of N = 10,122, nonpregnant adults aged ≥18 years were selected (N = 5,351). From that group, people who had data on all relevant covariates were selected (N = 4,417). From that subgroup, people who had accelerometer data that met the NHANES validity and reliability criteria and who wore the accelerometer for at least 4 days were selected (N = 3,348). Samples were taken from this group for regression analysis by waist circumference (N = 3,272) and by BMI (N = 3,250).
