Macrophages generated under (A) normoglycemic or (B) hyperglycemic conditions were treated with vehicle (unstimulated) or oxLDL with or without 24 hour pre-treatment with epalrestat. Cells were stained with 2′7′-dichlorofluoresceine diacetate (10 μM) for 30 minutes, and fluorescence was determined by flow cytometry (means+SEM of fold change over untreated cells, ** P<0.01, *** P<0.001).
