Effect of PMVs and sonicated PMVs on sporozoite binding to MDBK cells. Sporozoites and MDBK cells were incubated in suspension in the absence (control) and presence of varying amounts of PMVs or sonicated PMVs. After incubation, aliquots of the suspension volumes were examined with phase contrast microscopy. Binding of sporozoites to host cells was quantified as the number of binding events per 100 cells. Note: 50 μg PMV corresponds to 1 × 105 MDBK cell equivalents.
