NF-κB is up-regulated in AD neocortex. A, NF-κB, a known inducer of pre-miR-146a transcription (Fig. 3) is up-regulated in AD affected neocortex and hippocampus compared with age-matched controls (13). Parallel electrophoretic mobility shift assay experiments for the transcription factor SP1 in control and AD brain and in stressed HN cells showed no such up-regulation and served as an internal experimental control (data not shown and Refs. 11, 13).
