The LOS structure of N. meningitidis HT1125 was determined by glycosyl composition, glycosyl linkage, nuclear magnetic resonance, and MALDI-TOF MS analyses of the intact LOS, de-O-acylated LOS, isolated lipid A, and isolated OSs from purified LOS (data not shown). The biosynthesis-associated genes are shown in italic at the respective positions. PEA groups at Hep II of the 3 and 6 positions, shown in gray, were absent in the HT1125 strain.
