Comparing control (1–4) and p50(dynamitin)-transfected cells (5–8), total dynein (2 and 6) shifts from kinetochores to kinetochore fibers and poles by the time of chromosome alignment. In controls, BubR1 also shifts from kinetochore labeling to broad labeling of the spindle fibers (3 and 4).
