Rhodanese activity in wild-type and mutant strains. The indicated strains were grown overnight in glucose minimal medium, washed and then diluted into medium containing glucose (striped bars) or glycerol (black bars). Cells were harvested during exponential growth (OD600 of 0.64-0.79) and rhodanese activities were determined as described in the legend to Fig. (1). Activities found in the overnight cultures are indicated by the open bars.
