ΔAfclrD is more sensitive to 6AU than wild-type or complemented control strains. (A) The ΔAfclrD mutant (TJMP1.11) remained sensitive over 3 days of exposure to 100 μg/ml 6AU compared to the wild type with pyrG (TJW55.1) and two complemented control strains (TRMP4.25 and TRMP4.40). Error bars indicate 1 standard deviation (*, P < 0.001). (B) Northern analysis of mycelia challenged with 6AU resulted in induction of Afimd2 and Afsdt1 to similar levels in all three strains. In addition, no detectable difference in expression between strains was seen for genes involved in IMP deyhydrogenase-independent 6AU sensitivity in yeast (Afdst1, Afspt3, Afpop2, and Afrtf1).
