Effect of P-selectin site density and shear rate on cell rolling. Hydrodynamic velocities and average translational velocities of modeled polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNs) rolling over P-selectin-coated surfaces with site densities of 15 and 150 molecules/μm2 were calculated as a function of shear rate (10–200 s−1). The membrane stiffness of the modeled cells was 3 dyn/cm. Receptor-ligand binding kinetics was governed by the Dembo model. The microvilli were assumed to be rigid cylindrical rods. Data represent means ± SE from 3 independent simulations.
