Diffusion of SUVs near the supported planar membrane as a function of POPS. The mol % of POPS in the planar bilayer is varied and the vesicle diffusion measured. Solid circles are measured at pH 7.4, and open circles are measured at pH 4. At pH 7.4, as anionic lipid content in the planar bilayer increases, SUV diffusion increases, indicating that charge-charge repulsion increases; however, at pH 4, this trend is not observed.
