Contact-angle measurements for water, glycerol, and diiodomethane on oriented <0.2 μm clay films. The surface tension values for these liquids are listed in van Oss (1994). The contact angles have a standard deviation of approximately 2°. Solution of the simultaneous Young-Dupré equations yields the surface tension values (as mJ/m2) in the lower part of the table (+: electron acceptor; −: electron donor; Giese and van Oss, 2002)
