Immobilized specimens exhibited fewer (p < 0.05) ED1+ macrophages than controls at the tendon-bone interface at both 2 weeks and 4 weeks. In contrast, there were more (p < 0.05) ED2+ macrophages at the interface in the immobilized group 2 weeks postoperatively, but no differences between groups in ED2+ macrophage counts at 4 weeks.
