All values are mean (± SEM); Age (at the time of study), core temperature (T_Core), minute ventilation (V̇_E), frequency (fR), tidal volume (V_T), inspiratory time (T_I), expiratory time (T_E), ventilatory drive (V_T/T_I), oxygen consumption (V̇_O₂), convection requirement (V̇_E/V̇_O₂). All measurements were obtained while breathing room air at an ambient temperature of 25°C. Comparisons were made with an unpaired t-test.
