Sympathoexcitatory reflex responses to repeated regional myocardial ischemia before and after treatment with procaine in sinoaortic-denervated and bilateral-vagotomized cats. We observed consistent increases (Δ) in MAP (A) and integrated RSNA (B) evoked during repeated ischemia, before and after administration of the vehicle (2% NaHCO3, 2 ml iv) in eight cats. Conversely, epicardial application of 2% procaine abolished the increases in MAP (C) and integrated RSNA (D) evoked by ischemia in five cats.
