Species were separated into three groups based on motion capacity (bird, wind, unassisted), and predictions were generated for how each group would respond to two external landscape features over time: patch connectivity (solid lines) and patch edge effects (dashed lines). Predicted connectivity and edge effects may increase to an asymptote over time or may peak and then relax to an unknown equilibrium point (indicated by question marks and dotted lines).
