Inheritance scheme for σs and ρ. Soon after the children in generation t are born, their mothers form a prejudice (ρ) from a combination of their cultural beliefs (their σs values) and the socioeconomic environment (Δm and r). The mothers then transfer the value of ρ to their children while the children are still young. Later, when the children are older, their mothers teach them their cultural beliefs explicitly. In the process, these beliefs will sometimes be modified in line with the mother's and father's ρ.
