Protease sensitivity of Cry1Aa and its inactive mutants. Samples (3 μg) of each of the indicated toxins were incubated with 3 μg of trypsin (A) or chymotrypsin (B) at 37°C. The reaction was stopped at the beginning of the experiment or after 12 h by boiling the samples for 5 min. The samples were then analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-10% polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Numbers at left are molecular weight markers (in thousands).
