4-Dihydrotrisporin dehydrogenase prefers 4-dihydrotrisporin over 4-dihydromethyltrisporate as substrate. Cytoplasmic protein fractions of M. mucedo (−), sexually stimulated for 8 h with a trisporoid preparation from mated cultures of Blakeslea trispora, were separated by SDS-PAGE on a 15% polyacrylamide gel. SDS was removed and the proteins were allowed to refold in the presence of 1% Triton X-100. Staining for dehydrogenase activities was performed on single lanes using NADP as cofactor and either 4-dihydrotrisporin (lane 1) or 4-dihydromethyl trisporate (lane 2) as substrate.
