Between-group comparisons of 12-month values; differences between groups at baseline were not significant (P > 0.05).
Total testosterone was below the limit of detection (0.59 nmol/liter) in 26 women (11 placebo, 14 DHEA) at baseline and 16 women (11 placebo, five DHEA) at 12 months.
Cases with undetectable total testosterone concentrations were assumed to be 0.58 nmol/liter for the calculations of the FTI and FEI.
