^aOvernight liquid cultures were diluted to OD₆₀₀ values of 0.05 to 0.1 in fresh Luria-Bertani broth. They were then grown with shaking at 37°C, and OD₆₀₀ values were measured to follow growth of the cultures. Data shown are averages ± standard deviations for at least three measurements.
