The distributions are not different for the conventional therapy—treated groups (ΔBMI 1.2 ± 1.9 kg/m2 for each group [mean ± SD]) (A), but subjects with a family history of type 2 diabetes in the intensive therapy group had significantly greater weight gain than those without a family history of type 2 diabetes (ΔBMI 3.8 ± 2.8 vs. 2.9 ± 3.2 kg/m2 [mean ± SD], family history versus no family history, respectively, P = 0.004) (B).
