The potencies of a series of cochleotoxic aminoglycosides (Ak, amikacin; Gm, gentamicin; Ne, neamine; Nm, neomycin) in inhibiting protein synthesis in hybrid mitochondrial ribosomes (see Table 3) correlates with the relative cochleotoxicity previously reported by Kotecha and Richardson (41).
