Specific DNA adducts of 2PI-C6NC2 mustard compete
with estradiol for the ER. Bands 1, 2, and 3 from Fig. 3 were excised
and the DNA extracted. The modified or control 16-mers were added to a
calf uterine extract along with [3H]estradiol, and the
ability of each of the modified DNAs to compete with estradiol for the
ER was determined. For reference, the mid-point of the binding isotherm
of 2PI-C6NC2, before reaction with DNA, is indicated by the open
arrow.
