Phosphatidylcholine vesicles catalyze the conformational conversion of PFOs to APFs. A sample of 66 μm Aβ42 PFOs was mixed with 10 volumes of a solution of 25 mm phosphatidylcholine liposomes, and samples were taken at different times and analyzed by ELISA with A11 (▪) or αAPF (•) antibodies. The loss of A11 immunoreactivity is correlated with an increase in αAPF reactivity.
