At birth, the seminiferous tubule diameter (in μm) of wildtype and crybb2phil mice was not statistically different. However, at one and two weeks postnatal when spermatogenesis is beginning, the tubule diameter of mutants is significantly smaller than wildtype. By four weeks of age, mutant seminiferous tubules become dilated relative to wildtype similar to the situation seen in adult animals.
