In situ hybridization on coronal (20 µm thick) and sagittal (30 µm thick) brain sections of P5 wild type and Bhlhb5lacZ/lacZ (nulls) for subcerebral projection neuron markers, (A1–A4) S100A10, (B1–B4) mu-crystallin and (C1–C4) Crim1, reveals markedly reduced expression of these markers in caudal but not rostral motor cortex (wild type n=3; Bhlhb5-nulls n=3).
