Inhibition of the stimulating effect of CS from B. abortus- and S. aureus-infected osteoblasts on monocytic TNF-α and IL-1β production by pretreatment of CS with a neutralizing antibody to GM-CSF. CS were incubated with either the neutralizing antibody or an isotype control for 1 h before addition to THP-1 cultures. Results are expressed as means ± SEM of duplicate measures in a representative experiment of two with similar results.
