Cytokine levels in lung homogenates. Levels of IL-6, MIP-2, and TNF-α were measured in lung homogenates by ELISA at 6 h after infection. Levels of MIP-2 and IL-6 were significantly higher in SP-D−/− and in SP-AD−/− mice compared with WT mice. Additionally, levels of MIP-2 were significantly higher in SP-AD−/− compared with SPA−/− mice. There was no significant difference in levels of TNF-α between the four genotypes.
