The total number of TH-like immunoreactive neurons within a (50 × 50 μm) grid over the areas at × 400 magnification. Significance with Tukey's test following a one-way ANOVA is indicated as ***P < 0.001 versus SAL group and CON group, or ^###P < 0.001 and ⁺⁺⁺P < 0.001 versus COC group. The cells within the tegmental cell area were counted on each of three sections per animal.
