INSM1 ectopic expression induces cell cycle arrest. Cos-7 cells were cultured with or without 0.2 μg/ml of doxycycline for 24 h. The cells were synchronized with serum-free medium and subsequently stimulated with 10% serum for 0, 1, 4, or 24 h. The cells were subjected to propidium iodide (PI) staining and flow cytometric analysis. The cell cycle distribution revealed that less G2/M phase cells were present during INSM1 ectopic expression as compared with the control group, suggesting that cell cycle arrest occurs during INSM1 expression.
